The listed textbooks are required materials for the residents while the list of online databases and journals will be useful sources of information for strengthening residents’ awareness of public health issues.

Online DatabasesA number of online databases offer free access to scholarly journals and articles. These websites will be useful for research purposes and enhancing knowledge across disciplines.
The Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB)The Egyptian Knowledge Bank is the world's largest digital library granting unlimited resources exclusively for Egyptians and is concerned with educational development. It provides access to all academic resources as well as other portals. It has collaborated with multiple technology providers to ensure its users a search experience that is wholesome, productive, time-saving, multidisciplinary, and accurate.
Launched by the Eastern Mediterranean Public Health Network (EMPHNET) in 2022, to strengthen public health in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, it provides access to over 55 digital resources including Textbooks, Journals, Guidelines, Databases..etc.
PubMed is an online database containing over 20 million citations in the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and preclinical sciences. While not all of the articles through PubMed are available for free, many do contain links to free online journals where the articles can be obtained without a charge. PubMed provides online tutorials for using the database.
The Directory of Open Access Journals is a database that provides access to free quality scholarly journals and articles covering a range of disciplines and languages.
Google Scholar is a useful search engine for obtaining academic publications, such as books, articles, theses, in a range of disciplines and languages.
The Lancet collection provides an entry point to relevant original research, expert comment, and authoritative review articles from The Lancet, The Lancet Infectious Diseases, The Lancet Neurology, and The Lancet Oncology.
The DHS website include a database of data collected from national surveys conducting in over 85 countries addressing topics from population to health issues, such as fertility, nutrition, maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS.
CAPMAS is Egypt's official statistical agency. It plays a crucial role in providing reliable and comprehensive data that informs government policies and decision-making. CAPMAS collects, processes, analyzes, and disseminates a wide range of statistical information, including demographic data, economic indicators, social statistics, and environmental data. Their website offers a wealth of resources and data sets for researchers, policymakers, and the general public.
A number of free online biomedical and science journals provide quality and relevant information on the latest ongoing research in public health issues and offer the option of free subscriptions with a valid email address. These journals can also be accessed using the online database listed previously.
Emerging Infectious Diseases is a monthly publication produced by the CDC that reports trends in infectious diseases along with new and reemerging infectious diseases.
MMWR is an online series established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that publishes weekly reports on important public health issues as well as CDC recommendations.
Preventing Chronic Disease (PCD) is a peer-reviewed electronic journal established by the CDC’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. Articles focus on preventing and controlling chronic diseases and conditions, promoting health, and examining the biological, behavioral, physical, and social determinants of health and their impact on quality of life, morbidity, and mortality across the life span.
Science clips are featured CDC authored-publications and serve to enhance awareness of emerging scientific knowledge. The focus is applied public health research and prevention science that has the capacity to improve health now.

The World Health Organization (WHO) Bulletin is a peer-reviewed monthly international journal published by the WHO that focuses on public health issues with an emphasis on developing countries. All journals and content are available online free of charge.
This is a health journal published by the WHO regional office in the Eastern Mediterranean region with special emphasis on research conducted in the EMRO region.
The Weekly Epidemiological Record (WER) is useful for gathering up-to-date information on epidemiological data collected on disease cases and outbreaks as well as other communicable diseases.
