Recruitment and Selection of
residents
FETP eligibility requirements:
- Age range: 28 - 45 years old
- Medical background (physician, pharmacist, dentist, microbiologist, veterinary, ..etc)
- Officer at the MOH (central level, governorate level, district level or primary healthcare
"PHC" level)
- At least one year of experience in public health or epidemiology
- Good computer skills (internet and Microsoft office)
- Good English language (listening, speaking, and writing)
Selection of suitable trainees is critical for project success. Trainees are selected through an
open application process, on the basis of both objective and subjective assessments of
their:
- Willingness to work to improve the health of the people of the country
- Motivation to work in epidemiology,
- Interest in public health,
- Location and relevance of their previous work experience,
- Intelligence, character, and technical qualifications,
- Communication, Language and computer skills
The announcement of accepting new Cohort of FETP is accomplished by:
- Internal Publication at all Directorates, Districts and PHCs levels, and all the Central
Departments related to the preventive sector (Central department of public Health and its
subsidiary units, Central Public Health Laboratories, Central department of Environmental
health and its subsidiary units, Central Department of Endemic Diseases control).
- Sending fax to the General Organization for Veterinary Services (GOVS).
- Posting at the official Facebook page of the program and the official website
A formal Advisory committee is convened to assure balance and equity in the selection procedures,
through:
- Establish recruiting procedures and requirements
- Promote the program and solicit applications
- Consider use of questionnaire to assess knowledge and aptitude.
- Review applications
- Develop an interview questionnaire
- Select applicants for interviews
- Interview candidates
- Select trainees
The Advisory committee is composed of the following:

- FETP coordinator
- Head of the Epidemiology & Surveillance Department (DES)
- Expert epidemiologist from MoHP/DES
- Epidemiology Consultants
