Egypt FETP recognizes the diverse needs of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) and adapts its training accordingly. To address specific public health challenges, the program offers specialized tracks tailored to the MoHP's priorities. The curriculum is carefully customized, incorporating relevant training materials, case studies, and exercises to ensure the program's effectiveness. The program began with a pioneering "One Health" track, emphasizing the interconnectedness between human, animal, and environmental health. Building on this success, the program will continue to introduce specialized tracks in areas such as immunization, vector control, and mental health, ensuring that the FETP program remains responsive to the evolving needs of the Egyptian public health system.
By offering these specialized tracks, the Egypt FETP program empowers its graduates with in-depth knowledge and practical skills in critical areas of public health. This targeted approach ensures that FETP graduates are well-equipped to address the specific challenges faced by the MoH and contribute significantly to improving public health outcomes in Egypt.
In line with the national initiative to foster inter-ministerial collaboration, the Egyptian preventive health sector is spearheading a pioneering endeavor. This initiative involves launching the first-ever cohort with a specialized "One Health" track within a Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. This groundbreaking approach brings together professionals from diverse sectors, including agriculture, environment, the National Food Safety Authority, and the Egyptian Drug Authority.
By integrating participants from various ministries and authorities, this cohort embodies the "One Health" concept, recognizing the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health. This multi-sectoral approach will equip these professionals with a holistic understanding of public health challenges and empower them to develop and implement effective, interdisciplinary solutions. This innovative program sets a precedent for regional collaboration and strengthens the capacity of Egypt to address complex public health issues in a comprehensive and integrated manner.
The successful establishment of this One Health cohort was made possible through strong collaboration with key international organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Eastern Mediterranean Public Health Network (EMPHNET), and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). This collaborative effort has provided valuable expertise and resources, ensuring the program's success and contributing to the development of a robust public health workforce equipped to address complex challenges in a holistic manner.
